Fall 2017 Wardrobe: Velvet and Lace!
Fall 2017 is here!
Endings and Beginnings
In southern Arizona the temperatures are finally dropping out of the triple digits. We Arizonians are finally able to turn off the air conditioning, fling open the windows and let the fresh, crisp air in. Fall is my favorite time of the year. After 5 months of incredible heat, the weather is just starting to get beautiful. My absolute favorite thing about Fall is the majestic beauty of leaves changing colors to yellow, orange, red and brown. I have had to travel to higher ground to see this in person but change is on the horizon. Next Fall I want to be where the trees go for miles.
Fall is my ending and beginning. It is the time I look back and see what has been accomplished and what still needs to be done. I start thinking about what plans I want to make for the coming year. One thing I know I want each and every year is to have a wardrobe that I love. It is so pleasing to know that you can reach into your closet and easily find something to wear for any occasion. I’m not quite there yet because, well, having an incredible wardrobe doesn’t just happen. It takes planning. You need to think about what pieces you want to add and what pieces you want to put away or give away. I like creating seasonal capsules. My existing wardrobe can be updated by adding some new trendy items, getting rid of the old and replacing worn out basics. It’s a work in progress but my wardrobe is getting better all the time.
Fall 2017 Trends
There are some trends that have been around for quite a while like “the cold shoulder,” the “one shoulder,” and “off the shoulder” tops and dresses. Not exactly new but definitely a favorite are bomber jackets, ruffles, bell sleeves and lace. The Victorian style with high collars really has been trying to take hold but I don’t see enough adoption to keep it going. You never know though! Some of the out of the ordinary I have been seeing are “anything goes” skirts and silver shoes and silver clothing.
I am seeing booties of all kinds – most notably the flat booties. The bejeweled Birkenstocks made their way on scene this year. In my opinion those are the most horrifying, unattractive, unflattering shoes a woman could buy — even with all the glitz. They remind me of the 3 Little Bears. If you like my style you probably don’t like them either. Some things I am liking are collars with fur, double breasted coats (only a select few) and collared blouses buttoned to the top. My favorites right now are definitely VELVET and LACE and WHITE BOOTIES! The following items are 16 pieces I used to create 26 outfits.
